Chicago Bears football player tries to utilize skills he never had
October 1, 2012
As the great Jeff Joniak once said, Devin Hester, you are ridiculous.
Recently, Hester has made it public knowledge that he is upset with his role on the Chicago Bears offense.
Really, Devin? You’re upset with your role on the offense? I’m upset with your role on the offense.
Not only have you been a relative non-factor in the only usable aspect of your football package, the return game, but you have never been a good receiver.
The truth is, you’ve never been good at anything. I remember when they tried to play you at cornerback to justify you’re ludicrous contract handed to you based on your return prowess.
Your coverage technique and time spent at that position was like watching Queen Latifah’s rendition of the national anthem, completely out of place and lasting much too long.
Then came the move to the offense, with the creation of the so-called, “Hester Package.” This is primarily a mixture of bubble screens and go routes, because apparently that’s the most you can comprehend. If you could actually catch the ball, or somehow grow five inches, you would be a force to be reckoned with.
I don’t think someone who just this last week completely missed on catching a wide open touchdown pass should say anything about being under-utilized.
The truth is, you got paid for past accomplishments. Those skills are gone and we’re trying to utilize ones you never had.
