Wednesday
At 10:46 a.m. on Oct. 2, an officer was sent to the NIU Police Department in regard to a report of fraudulent use of a debit card. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.
At 10:56 p.m., an officer was sent to the Campus Recreation Center in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.
At 2:53 p.m., officers were sent to Neptune East in regard to a physical altercation. Upon arrival, officers met with several people. An investigation revealed Walter L. Jones, 20, of Chicago, made physical contact with another individual. Jones was arrested for battery. Jones was transported to the NIU Police Department for arrest processing, and released after posting cash bond.
At 9:03 p.m., an officer was sent to the Northern View apartments for harassment by telephone report. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant and took a report. Contact resulted in an individual being referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for harassment by telephone.
At 11 p.m., an officer was sent to the east side of the New Residence Hall Complex in regard to a report of theft. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.
Thursday
At 7 p.m. on Sept. 10, an officer was sent to Stevenson North in regard to a report of stolen property. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Thursday, the case was closed at the request of the complainant.
At 7 p.m. on Sept. 16, an officer was sent to Lot P in regard to a report of criminal damage to property. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Thursday, the case was administratively closed due to a lack of leads.
At 5:14 p.m. on Sept. 20, an officer was sent to the NIU Police Department lobby in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. On Thursday, the case was closed at the request of the complainant.
At 9:35 a.m., an officer was sent to the NIU Police Department lobby in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case is open pending further investigation.
At 3:44 p.m., an officer was sent to the NIU Police Department lobby in regard to a report of credit card fraud. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. The case is open pending further investigation.
At 11 p.m., officers were sent to the New Residence Hall Community Center in regard to a report of battery. Officers arrived on scene and initiated an investigation. Samuel J. Watt, 21, of Alton, was arrested for battery. He was processed at the NIU Police Department and released on bond.
