Wednesday

At 7:30 a.m., Aug. 4, officers started an investigation into the possible theft of university property. During the course of the investigation, the offenders were identified. On Oct. 16, Robert C. Albanese, 62, of Elburn was arrested for official misconduct, violation of the State Property Control Act and theft. Albanese was processed at the NIU Police Department and released on $1,000 bond. On Wednesday, Larry Murray, 51, of Rochelle; Mark Beaird, 52, of Kings; Kenneth A. Pugh, 56, of Sycamore and Susan Zahm, 58, of Hillcrest were arrested for official misconduct, violation of the State Property Control Act and theft. Murrary, Beaird, Pugh and Zahm were processed at the NIU Police Department and released on a $1,000 bond.

At 7:31 p.m., an officer was sent to the NIU Police Department in regard to a report of theft. The officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is open pending further investigation.

At 10:04 a.m., an officer was sent to Douglas Hall in regard to a report of criminal trespass. The officer made contact with a person was banned from NIU property. Devante L. Jefferson, 19, of University Park, was arrested for criminal trespass to state property. During the encounter, it was determined that Jefferson had an active warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court for the charge of possessing cannabis. Jefferson was processed at the NIU Police Department and sent to DeKalb County jail.
