SIU names new vice chancellor

Southern Illinois University announced a new vice chancellor for development and alumni relations, according to The Associated Press.
The new vice chancellor, James Salmo, will also serve as chief executive of the SIU Foundation, said SIU Chancellor Rita Cheng. Salmo served as vice president for college advancement at a Rhode Island College in Providence, according to the AP.
Salmo is a St. Louis native who spent three years directing annual giving at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, according to the AP. He later served as associate vice chancellor at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
His appointment for SIU will take effect on Nov. 28, according to The Associated Press. His appointment is pending approval by the SIU Board of Trustees and the SIU Foundation Board.
