Simple steps to avoid flu, options available
October 11, 2012
Public Health Administrator Jane Lux said in a press release that she recommends an annual flu vaccination for everyone 6 months and older as the single best way to protect against influenza. In addition, everyone should practice the three C’s: cover your mouth, clean your hands, and contain your germs.
There will be a walk in clinic every Thursday starting Oct. 18 at the DeKalb County Health Department, 2550 N Annie Glidden Road. Times for adults 19 and older are 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. For children from 6 months old to 18 years old the clinic times are 3 to 6 p.m. Children must be accompanied by a legal guardian. This vaccine protects against three strains of the influenza virus. To receive the vaccine there is a charge of $38. You must bring with you a current ID and insurance card.
