An NIU student has started a twitter campaign to get Mark Cuban to speak at NIU.

Senior marketing major Kevin Worazek said he hopes his hashtag campaign #cuban2niu will reach out to Cuban, who owns the Dallas Mavericks, Landmark Theaters and Magnolia Pictures. As of 2012, Cuban lists 206 on Forbes 400 richest in the U.S.

Worazek started the campaign earlier this year. Worazek wrote Cuban a proposal to come and speak but has yet to get an answer.

Worazek said he thinks Cuban will be attracted by the hashtag campaign because of his interest in the media and Twitter.

“If so many people are tweeting and interested than it would be worth his time to come to NIU,” Worazek said.

Worazek said he plans on using the Convocation Center to host the event. Some of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity that Worazek belongs to.
