Construction continues on DeKalb roads
September 25, 2012
A bridge replacement on Bethany Road and road widening of Annie Glidden Road are still in the works.
The Bethany Road project began in spring of 2012 after being categorized as “functionally obsolete” by nationalbridges.com.
The project on Annie Glidden Road was created in order to increase the number of lanes to five with the aim of decreasing congestion and increasing the road’s lifespan.
Joel Maurer, assistant director of Public Works, said the work should be completed sometime in 2012 and will cost approximately $1.6 million, according to a April 11, 2011, Northern Star article.
T.J. Moore, director of Public Works, said a lot of construction was accomplished this past summer.
“It was so conducive, in fact, that contractors were often pulling time away from multiple different jobs,” Moore said.
