Rehearsals for the NIUkulele Ensemble will begin at 7 p.m. on Sept. 10 at the Music Building, according to a NIU Community School of the Arts press release.

People ages nine and up are welcome to join the new ensemble. Director Eric Schroeder made the ensemble for new players.

They will be able to play melodies, chords and songs in many styles, according to the press release. People can play in solo, unison and harmony, and will learn basic ensemble skills. Players with experience are also welcome and may be assigned more involved parts.

All types of ukuleles can be used, but people are required to bring their own instrument to class.
