DeKalb police received a report of an armed robbery occuring at 3:52 a.m. Sunday in the rear parking lot of 1120 Varsity Boulevard, according to a press release from the DeKalb Police Department. A male and a female said they were approached by two black male subjects. The first subject had short hair, was approximately 5’9”, weighed 150-160 pounds and was wearing a black hoodie. The second subject was approximately 5’10”, weighed 150-160 pounds and was wearing a gray sweatshirt or hoodie.

One of the suspects displayed a handgun and the female victim ran. The male victim was robbed of a purse he was holding for the female, a phone and keys. The police department would like to remind DeKalb residents and students to be aware of their surroundings, travel in groups, avoid dark areas, don’t wear headphones and don’t become too engrossed in their phones or other electronic devices, especially when walking late at night.
