Egyptian Theatre seeks grants
September 11, 2012
The Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second Street, has sent out a plea for local residents to help raise funds for renovations to the theater.
All it takes for residents to help this historic foundation is two minutes and a Facebook profile or Chase Bank online account.
Preservation of the Egyptian Theatre (PET), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoration of the Egyptian Theatre, is competing for at least one of several grants ranging from $10,000 to $250,000 in the Chase Community Giving program. The voting to award the Egyptian Theatre with a grant takes place from Sept. 6 through to 19 on the Egyptian Theatre’s Facebook page.
“We would love the full $250,000 grant, but any little bit definitely helps,” said Derek Gibbs, membership and marketing director at the Egyptian Theatre.
