This I Believe co-editor to visit NIU
September 12, 2012
The co-editor of the This I Believe book series will visit NIU next week, according to NIU Today.
Dan Gediman, executive producer of National Public Radio’s This I Believe series and co-editor of two This I Believe books, will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday 18 and at 11 a.m. Sept. 19 at the Carl Sandburg auditorium inside the Holmes Student Center.
According to NIU Today, the This I Believe II book collection is used to reinforce the Northern PACT. The university strives to foster an educational community where beliefs are listened to, supported and shared openly, according to NIU Today.
The This I Believe II book collection holds 75 essays written by a variety of Americans who express their strongly-held beliefs, according to NIU Today. Gediman said the goal of the series is to encourage people to begin the difficult task of developing respect for beliefs different than their own.
A workshop will be held by Gediman at 8 a.m. Sept. 19 at DeKalb High School, according to NIU Today.
