An attempted robbery took place off-campus today.

NIU Police Sgt. Alan Smith said two black male suspects attempted to rob a UPS truck at 12:45 p.m. at 919 Ridge Road. The suspects inferred they had a weapon but no weapon was displayed, said DeKalb Police Sgt. Bob Redel.

The UPS driver was not hurt.

The suspects fled to 833 Ridge Road soon after and were last seen running past Amber Manor apartment buildings 300 and 400.

Smith said the suspects have not been caught. One suspect was described as wearing a black sweatshirt and dark pants with a height between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches. The other suspect was described wearing a black jacket with white sleeves with a height between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet.
