Norm Jenkins, Holmes Student Center associate director, has been named the acting director of the NIU Convocation Center.

Paul Palian, director of media and public relations, said John Gordon, the Convocation Center’s previous director, resigned.

Jenkins, an ’85 NIU alumnus, will begin his work as acting director on Aug. 1. He joined the Holmes Student Center staff in 2001, according to a press release.

Palian said Gordon’s resignation was a “personal decision.” He said he and others received a circulating email with rumors about the reasons for Gordon’s resignation but it “had a lot of rumors and inaccuracies.”

Bob Albanese, associate vice president of Finance & Facilities’ Operations division, has also retired. Palian said it would be inappropriate to speculate as to if there will be more resignations or retirements from the department in the near future.
