Campus blotter for 5/2/12

Saturday

At 2:12 a.m., officers responded to Lot X regarding a call box activation. Officers met with Catherine L. Cupp, 20, who admitted to pushing the callbox when no emergency existed. Cupp was found to be under the influence of alcohol while under 21. Cupp was arrested for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor and harassment by telephone. She was processed at the NIU Department of Police and Public Safety and released after posting bond.

At 2:50 a.m., officers responded to Lot D for a report of motor vehicle theft. Officers located the stolen vehicle in the area of 630 N. Annie Glidden Road. Officers located a person running from the vehicle who matched a description provided by the victim. Upon further investigation, Kyndon J. Fuller, 24, of Chicago, was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft. Fuller was processed at the NIU Department of Police and Public Safety and later transported to DeKalb County Jail.

At 3:01 a.m., an officer on patrol in the area of Williston Hall encountered a person under the influence of alcohol. It was found the person, Devin R. Taylor, 18, of DeKalb, was under 21. Taylor was arrested and charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was later transported to DeKalb County Jail.

At 3:21 a.m., an officer in Stevenson Towers South encountered a person under the influence of alcohol. The person was found to be under 21. Kathryn F. Parisi, 20, of Batavia, was arrested and charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. Parisi was processed at the NIU Department of Police and Public Safety, given an I-bond and released.

At 11:03 a.m., officers were dispatched to Stevenson Towers regarding a banned individual. Officers confirmed the person, Joseph N. Mccall, 19, of Aurora, was banned from all NIU property. Mccall was arrested and charged with criminal trespass to property. Mccall was processed at the NIU Department of Police and Public safety and released after posting bond.

At 11:04 a.m., an officer responded to Lincoln Hall for a report of criminal defacement. Upon arrival, the officer met with a complainant and took a report. This case is pending investigation.

At 1:23 p.m., officers responded to Lincoln Hall in regard to a potential battery. Officers investigated the incident and determined no battery had taken place. This case is unfounded.

At 6:57 p.m., an officer was dispatched regarding a burglary to motor vehicle report. The officer met with a complainant and took a report. This case is administratively closed due to lack of leads.

At 8:25 p.m., officers encountered a person in possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia in the 1000 block of Hillcrest Drive. The offender was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

At 11:57 p.m., an officer at Grant Towers North encountered a person under the influence of alcohol. The person, Francis D. Bourke, 19, of Burlington, Wis., was found to be under 21. Bourke was arrested and charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. Bourke was processed at the NIU Department of Police and Public Safety. Bourke was unable to post bond and was transported to DeKalb County Jail.

Tuesday

At 4:46 p.m., an officer was sent to Stevenson Tower North regarding a theft report. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is pending investigation.

At 5:05 p.m., an officer was sent to Lot Five regarding criminal damage to a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant and took a report. This case is administratively closed due to lack of leads.
