DeKalb Police responded to a shooting early Saturday morning which injured one person.

Authorities received a call at about 4:30 a.m. in reference to a shooting which occurred in the parking lot behind an apartment complex in the 800 block of Spiros Court in DeKalb said DeKalb Police Cpl. Joe Espy.

Espy said it is still unclear if the incident was drug or alcohol related. The case is currently under investigation and no suspect is in custody at this time.

According to the Daily Chronicle, “the victim was a 24-year-old male who lives in the DeKalb area and is not a Northern Illinois University student. DeKalb Police Lt. Gary Spangler said the victim was shot in the hip and was transported to Kishwaukee Community Hospital. He was later transported to a hospital in Rockford.”
