Campus blotter for 3/5/12

Thursday
At 1:13 a.m., Caelan A. Rivera, 18, of Crystal Lake, was found to unlawfully be in possession of cannabis at Douglas Hall. Rivera was arrested and late released on individual bond.
At 11:58 p.m., officers responded to Lot P after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle. Two people were found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
Friday
At 3:20 a.m., an officer recognized the driver of a vehicle in Lot 30 as a person banned from campus. It was determined the person, Michael C. Nietert, 19, of Naperville, had entered a NIU building. Nietert was arrested and charged with Criminal Trepass to State Supported Property, and was found to be unlawfully in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the NIU Police Department and released after posting bond.
At 6:42 p.m., a person reported someone had taken her purse, which contained her debit card, without her consent. The victim also reported that a fraudulent transaction was conducted with her debit card. This case is pending investigation.
At 9:11 p.m., a person in Neptune West was found to unlawfully be in possession of alcohol. The person was given a verbal warning.
At 10:30 p.m., Joel Johnson, 20, of Chicago, was found to be unlawfully in possession of cannabis in Douglas Hall. Johnson was placed under arrest and was later released after posting bond.
Saturday
At 1:45 a.m., several people in Grant North were found to have unlawfully consumed alcohol. All of the students involved were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct, and all non-students involved were given a verbal warning.
At 2:34 a.m., several people in Neptune North were found to have unlawfully consumed alcohol. All of the people were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
At 3 a.m., a person in Douglas Hall was found to have unlawfully consumed alcohol. The person was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
At 4:56 a.m., officers were dispatched to Grant South for a report of domestic disturbance. The officers spoke with the victim, who reported his ex-girlfriend had entered his room without permission and had battered him while he slept. The victim said the offender had also damaged property belonging to the victim before fleeing the scene. Follow-up will be conducted with the State’s Attorney Office to seek a warrant for the offender.
At 8:07 p.m., a person in Stevenson South was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The person was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
