Sims requests more time for plea bargain

The attorney for one of the men charged in connection with the Sept. 28 shooting on Lucinda Avenue asked for more time to discuss a plea bargain at a status hearing Wednesday.

Eric Sims, 20, of Evergreen Park is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, armed violence and armed robbery, all of which are class X felonies.

Class X felonies have a mandatory minimum sentence of six to 30 years in prison.

Sims’ next scheduled court date is June 5.
