A friend of mine once called Ricky Williams “The Greatest Player in Sports Entertainment.”

Well football friends the Williams’ show has come to an end.

The once beard coated faced running back announced his retirement Tuesday from the NFL.

And this time, it’s for real. Williams can now ride out into the sunset and bask himself in what likely be a green-smoke aura.

He’ll be remembered as the player Mike Ditka traded an entire draft for. He’ll be remembered for his array of facemask visors. I’ll always remember Williams as one the most electric running backs I’ve ever seen play.

Enjoy your time sharing philosophical ideas with the Dalai Lama, Ricky. We know you’ll have a ball being out of the public eye now, which you should.
