T-Pain returns to Convo with Gym Class Heroes

There may be snow on the ground in DeKalb now, but it may be moving inside come February.

Rapper T-Pain and alternative hip-hop group Gym Class Heroes will perform at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 10 at the Convocation Center, 1525 Lincoln Highway, as part of the Snowstorm Tour 2012.

T-Pain is touring in support of his 2011 release rEVOLVEr, which received mostly positive reviews upon release and features autotuned party anthems “5 O’Clock” and “Best Love Song.”

Coheadliners Gym Class Heroes, best known for its Supertramp-inspired 2007 hit “Cupid’s Chokehold,” take the stage in support of its 2011 release The Papercut Chronicles II.

“Both of them are pretty big right now amongst the Top 40 stations and both of them are crossover artists,” said Heather Priest, marketing manager for the Convocation Center. “They cater to big audiences and are pretty big names.”

Tickets cost $29.50 in advance or $35 on the day of the show, and are currently on sale. Tickets can be purchased at the Convocation Center box office, any Ticketmaster outlet, or Ticketmaster.com.

Students who want to get a discount on tickets have the opportunity to purchase them for $19.97 during a one-day-only sale from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday at the Convocation Center box office. Students must present a valid OneCard to take advantage of the deal.

“We wanted to give something for the students since they missed the opportunity to take advantage of the one-day sale we had when they went on sale,” Priest said. “The tickets are priced reasonably, but we wanted to give them the extra opportunity and equal opportunity that we gave the general public.”

Rapper Outasight , hip-hop duo Grieves & Budo , singer Chris Cab and deejay Dextrious will open the show.
