Vehicle hit and run under investigation

A Sycamore man has charges pending against him in connection with a hit and run accident that occurred on Plank Road east of Lindgren Road, according to a press release that came from the DeKalb County Sherrif’s Office.

The release states Solomon J. Gebretensai, 25, of Sycamore attempted to pass a vehicle driven by Jesus Aguilera, 42, of Elgin. The release states Gebretensal rear-ended Aguilera’s vehicle.

Both vehicles pulled over to the side of the road, and Aguilera told Gebretensal he needed to call the police to file a police report.

The release states Gebretensal then got back into his car, turned off his lights and sped away from the scene.

According to the release, Aguilera could not keep up with Gebretensal, who was later identified when he attempted to file an accident report with DeKalb Police force.

Later in the day, Gebretensai was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to report the accident, illegal transportation of alcohol and driving without headlights.

Gebretensai is currently being held at the DeKalb County Jail pending further investigation.
