Campus blotter for 10/10/11

Thursday
At 1:38 p.m., an officer responded to a person turning himself in for a warrant in the NIU Police Department lobby. After verification of the validity of the warrant, Clifton K. Nathaniel, 20, of Chicago, was arrested, processed and released after posting bond.
At 2:33 p.m., an officer received a theft report at the NIU Police Department. Upon arrival, she met with student who said someone stole $15 in cash from his wallet when he left it in a men’s bathroom in DuSable Hall. Due to no leads, this case is administratively closed.
At 3:23 p.m., an officer responded to Stevenson Towers South for a theft report. Upon arrival, she met with the student, who said someone stole his laundry. This case is pending investigation.
At 6:30 p.m., an officer responded to Stevenson Towers South for a theft report. Upon arrival, he met with a student, who said someone stole his laundry. Due to no leads, this case is administratively closed.
At 7:53 p.m., officers responded to the Campus Recreation Center for a theft report. Upon arrival, they met with a man who said someone stole his wallet from a locker. Due to no leads and no suspects, this case is administratively closed.
At 9:19 p.m., an officer conducting a building check of the third floor of Lincoln Hall A Wing encountered a student who possessed drug paraphernalia. The student was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
At 10:26 p.m., an officer conducting a building check of Neptune West heard loud music coming from a first floor room. Investigation resulted in four people being referred to the Officer of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. This case is pending investigation.
Friday
At 1:15 a.m. an officer was completing an exterior check of Grant South and observed a student who had difficulty walking. The officer initiated a conversation with the student, who admitted to drinking alcohol underage. The student was given a verbal warning.
At 4:25 p.m. a woman came to the NIU Police department to report she witnessed two white males taking the hubcaps from a vehicle parked in Lot P. Upon further investigation, an officer met with the owner of the vehicle and determined the hubcaps were taken. This case is pending investigation.
At 11:39 p.m. an officer conducting a building check of Neptune West heard what sounded like a party. The officer identified one male and two female students who all admitted to drinking alcohol. The male said he was aware the females were underage and he supplied the alcohol in the room. Both females admitted to consuming the alcohol and being underage. The male was given a verbal warning for contributing to the delinquency of minors and the two females were issued verbal warnings for unlawful assumption of alcohol by a minor.
At 11:59 p.m. while completing a check of Stevenson Towers, officers recognized the smell of burnt cannabis emanating from a room. After making contact with the residents, a small amount of cannabis was located inside. The subject was given a verbal warning for the possession of cannabis.
Saturday
At 9:59 a.m. NIU Police were called to Lot S in regard to a front passenger window broken out in a woman’s vehicle. After inspecting her vehicle, she said no items were taken from the vehicle. This case is pending investigation.
At 10:35 p.m. NIU Police were called to Lot S in regards to a front passenger window broken out in a student’s vehicle. Upon further inspection of the lot, the officer located another vehicle with it’s front passenger window broken. The officer left a business card and attempted to make contact with the owner. This case is pending investigation.
