Campus blotter for 10/12/11

Sept. 14
- At 4:09 p.m., an officer responded to the lobby of the NIU Police Department for a theft report. Upon arrival, he met with a student who said someone stole his NIU OneCard and made unauthorized purchases on it. The students have been identified and referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for theft.
Friday
- At 11:16 p.m., an officer in the lobby of Lincoln Hall took a theft report regarding a stolen license plate. The student said someone stole the front license plate from her vehicle while it was parked in front of Northern View Building #6B. Due to no leads and no suspects, this case is administratively closed.
Saturday
- At 12:53 p.m. officers responded to Lot 15E for damage to the front passenger side fender of a vehicle. Photos and a report were taken, but due to lack of leads this case has been administratively closed pending any new information.
Sunday
- At 1:43 a.m. an officer in the lobby of Neptune East observed what appeared to be an intoxicated student. The officer made contact with the student, who was determined to be an intoxicated minor. The student was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
- At 2:20 a.m., while conducting a floor check of Stevenson Towers, an officer came in contact with a student carrying a wine cooler. The officer then returned to the student’s room, where several other people were drinking alcohol. All individuals voluntarily disposed of the remaining alcohol and were given verbal warnings.
- At 2:25 a.m., officers responded to Neptune East for a complaint of disorderly conduct. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a student who was an intoxicated minor. The individual was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
- At 4:20 a.m., while on patrol of the Douglas Hall Lobby, an officer noticed a student lose her balance while walking in the main entrance. After a brief conversation, the student admitted to drinking alcohol while being a minor. She was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
- At 12:32 p.m., an officer met with a person in the NIU Police Department regarding a complaint of harassment by electronic communications. Later that day, the officer made contact with the identified student, who was then referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for harassment by electronic communications.
- At 9:13 p.m., a sergeant and an officer responded to the entrance of Douglas Hall for a report of a person in possession of a controlled substance. The sergeant and officer contacted the student and determined that he was in possession of cannabis, and drug paraphernalia. Calvin Y. Parng, 18, of Naperville, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
