Otto’s fined for selling liquor to minors
October 17, 2011
The Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) found Otto’s Niteclub and Underground, 118 E. Lincoln Highway, was in violation of liquor laws on Spet. 8, according to a press release.
Of the 18 businesses checked in DeKalb, Otto’s Niteclub was the only one found to have sold alcohol to underage ILCC participants. This underage alcohol compliance check was in accordance with “Operation Back to School” in conjunction with DeKalb police.
The ILCC is made up of local law enforcement, agents, and volunteers from high schools and colleges who randomly visit liquor stores, bars and restaurants to make sure they are following laws which state that no liquor is to be sold to those under 21.
The ILCC visited 252 businesses in Illinois and found 68 of those businesses were in violation of liquor control laws. Only 73 percent of the businesses the ILCC visited in Illinois were found to refuse to serve underage customers.
