Letter to the editor: Real Star Wars fans like the Blu-Ray set
October 18, 2011
After reading the article, “Enough with Star Wars, Mr. Lucas” I wondered if the author even watched the Blu-Ray editions. You made it clear that you did not enjoy episodes one through three, so why would you appreciate them in Blu-Ray?
Your ridiculous statement that the prequels were poorly casted is ludicrous. Liam Neeson’s role as Qui-Gon Jinn is phenomenal; the love Queen Amidala has for her people is portrayed in every word Natalie Portman speaks.
As for Hayden Christensen, his awkward confused demeanor throughout the films is exactly how a young boy would feel if he was being manipulated by the most powerful Sith in the universe.
Having actually watched episodes one through six on Blu-Ray, I can say I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Seeing the Death Star explode in “A New Hope” made me throw my hands in the air and shout just as it did when I first saw the film.
All that aside, I still own the original series completely unaltered and those cuts will remain my favorites unless the 3D releases blow Star Wars fans collective minds.
These Blu-Ray editions though, are a good way to attract the younger audiences that may not buy into the special effects of the ’80s. The special features are also a must-have and should not be overlooked. Much light is shed on Luke’s life on Tatooine, and his best friend, Biggs Darklighter.
All together, the Blu-Ray editions are a must-have for any Star Wars fan.
