Saturday

  • At 1:43 a.m., an officer in the lobby of Grant North observed a student enter the lobby suspiciously using a hand to hold an object under his hoodie. The officer contacted the student, who was a minor. The student revealed a 1.75 liter bottle of Captain Morgan. The underage student was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
  • From 11 a.m. to 12:23 p.m., officers on patrol of the Huskie Stadium east tailgate encountered eight minors in possession of alcohol. All were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
  • At 8:09 p.m., an officer responded to the NIU Parking Deck regarding a report of criminal damage to property. Upon arrival, he met with a student, who said someone broke her passenger side front window, but nothing was missing. This case is pending investigation.

  • At 8:09 p.m., an officer responded to the NIU Parking Deck regarding a report of criminal damage to property. Upon arrival, he met with a woman who said someone broke her passenger side front window, but she did not notice anything missing. This case is pending investigation.

Monday

  • At 12:03 a.m., an officer in the Lincoln Hall Lobby smelled burnt cannabis. The officer contacted the person from which the smell emanated and the student produced cannabis. The student was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
  • At 8:25 a.m., officers responded to NIU Parking Lot 40 regarding the theft of a license plate. Upon arrival, they spoke with the student, who said someone stole her front license plate and license plate holder. Due to no leads, this case is administratively closed.
  • At 10:30 a.m., an officer responded to NIU Parking Lot S regarding a vehicle with a shattered front passenger window. The owner said $3 in change was taken from his vehicle. Due to no leads, this case is administratively closed.
  • At 12:37 p.m., an officer responded to Stevenson Towers North for a theft report. Upon arrival, he spoke with three roommates who said items were taken from their room. This case is pending investigation.
  • At 12:00 p.m., an officer on patrol of the Huskie Stadium east tailgate observed a minor in possession of an alcoholic beverage. The officer referred the student to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
  • At 12:30 p.m., an officer responded to the NIU Police Department’s EMP Lobby regarding theft of a cell phone. The women said Friday at 12:30 p.m., someone stole her cell phone out of Graham Hall’s computer lab. Due to no leads, this case is administratively closed.
  • At 12:30 p.m., an officer patrolling NIU Parking Lot S observed a car with a shattered front passenger window. The officer contacted the vehicle’s owner who said nothing was taken from the vehicle. Due to no leads, this case is administratively closed.
  • At 5:43 p.m., an officer responded to the lobby of NIU Police Department for the report of possible credit card deception. Upon arriving, he met with the women who said someone made unauthorized charges to her TCF Bank account. This case is pending investigation.
  • At 8:20 p.m. officers responded to the third floor of Neptune West for a possible violation of the cannabis control act. Upon arrival, they met a student who said the smell of burnt cannabis was emanating from a specific room. Officers contacted the resident of that room and referred him to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
