9/11 Events in the City
At 1 p.m. at the Healing Garden of the Kishwaukee Community Hospital, 1 Kish Hospital Drive, there will be a memorial honoring the 9/11 victims. Members of both the DeKalb and Sycamore fire departments will attend.
From 4 to 6 p.m. at the DeKalb Square Park, at the corner of North Fourth Street and Lincoln Highway, there will be a 9/11 Open Mic event where members of the community can share thoughts, poetry and songs. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 158 N. Fourth St.
From 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 158 N. Fourth St., there will be a non-denominational blessing given by various religious leaders. Following the blessing, there will be discussion, readings, poetry and music performances.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at “North 40,” on the corner of Lucinda and Kishwaukee Dr., there will be the annual DeKalb Kite Festival. During the festival there is going to be a special memorial 9/11 kite fly.
