HONOLULU (AP) — Eddie Stansberry scored 23 points and his fifth 3-pointer from the left corner with 3.3 seconds left lifted Hawaii to a 76-75 win over UC Davis on Saturday night.
The Rainbow Warriors had the ball out of bounds under their own basket after Justin Webster missed a 3-pointer but Zigmars Raimo grabbed the offensive rebound.
Stansberry was in the right corner, circled around behind the foul line where Justin Hemsley set a pick on the defender and raced to the left corner where he took the inbounds pass from Drew Buggs and got off the shot before falling to the ground.
Davis got off a desperation 3 that was off the mark as time expired.
The Aggies used an 11-2 run to take a 71-62 lead, the biggest for either team in the game, with 4:14 to play but a minute later the Rainbow Warriors started an 8-0 surge, going up 73-72 with 1:52 to play.
Davis took a 74-73 lead on a pair of Ezra Manjon free throws and after Buggs missed a pair of free throws and both teams missed a shot, Joe Mooney made 1 of 2 from the foul line for the Aggies with 15 seconds left.
Raimo and Hamsley both had 14 points and seven rebounds for Hawaii (13-6, 4-1 Big West Conference), which has won three straight. Buggs had 11 assists, eight rebounds and seven points.
Manjon scored 22 points for the Aggies (8-13, 2-3) and Stefan Gonzalez had a career-high seven 3-pointers on 10 attempts for a season-high 21 points.
