There were no injuries to the occupants or fire crews. As of early Thursday afternoon, the cause of the fire remains under investigation with the help of the DeKalb Police Department, said DeKalb Fire Lt. Chris Ziola, who was present at the scene.
According to a press release, “upon arrival, crews found a detached garage with two cars parked in front of it fully engulfed in flames.”
DeKalb firefighters requested one additional fire truck from the Sycamore Fire Department for assistance. About 24 firefighters total battled the blaze, Ziola said. Fire crews extinguished the fire within about 20 minutes. The Cortland Fire Department also sent out crews to the DeKalb Fire Department to help answer other calls that came in.
