Campus blotter for 9/23/11

Tuesday

  • At 9:30 p.m., a police sergeant responded to NIU Lot A for a report of criminal damage. Upon arrival, he saw a vehicle with a window broken. The vehicle’s owner said items were stolen from the vehicle. The officer processed the scene for evidence. This case is administratively closed pending the discovery of leads.

Wednesday

  • At 3:33 a.m., an officer encountered an unauthorized student in the construction zone by Cole Hall. The student was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for criminal trespass.
  • At 10:05 a.m. an officer responded to the Neptune North lobby regarding theft. Upon arrival, she met the student who said someone stole his bag containing video games and a gaming system. This case is pending investigation.
  • At 11:44 a.m., officers responded to Lincoln Hall regarding an odor of cannabis. After they arrived at the suspected room, officers talked with the suspect, who was not an NIU student. He was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
  • At 12:57 p.m., an officer responded to the Village Commons Bookstore in regards to a theft that occurred last Friday. This case is pending investigation.
  • At 3:35 p.m., officers observed a vehicle that had the front passenger window broken out in NIU Lot S. The vehicle’s owner said her purse was stolen. The vehicle was processed for evidence. Due to no leads and no suspects, this case is administratively closed.
