An NIU student was arrested Sept 1. and charged with battery, resisting a peace officer and violation of electronic home monitoring.

According to a press release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, Johnny C. Tate, 42, of Sycamore, was observed in the 100 block of West Elm Street striking another man in the face. Tate continued to strike the victim after being told by the deputy to stop.

The release states Tate continued to hit the victim as the deputy attempted to subdue him. Tate was eventually handcuffed and transported to DeKalb County Jail pending bond.
