City crime blotter 8/22/11

The following was taken directly from area police and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.

 

Aug. 14

At 4:03 a.m., DeKalb Police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the 800 block of N. Annie Glidden Road. Upon investigation, the officer observed what was suspected to be cannabis and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The suspect, Fahd T. Kayani, 19, of DeKalb, was arrested when he returned to the vehicle. Kayani was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.

Aug. 16

At 12:56 a.m., DeKalb Police in the 800 block of Kimberly Drive observed a subject cross the street while holding a beer. The officer recognized the subject from a previous call. Stephanie T. Hendrix, 26, of DeKalb, was found to have an active failure to appear warrant for a disorderly house. Hendrix was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. She was later taken to DeKalb County Jail.

Aug. 17

At 7:52 a.m., DeKalb Police in the 1300 block of W. Lincoln Highway responded to a report of a subject sleeping in his car. Officers located the subject and learned he had an active warrant for his arrest. Cordell L. Smith, 24, a transient, was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. He was later taken to DeKalb County Jail.

Aug. 20

At 2:16 a.m., DeKalb Police in the 1100 block of W. Hillcrest Drive observed a vehicle nearly strike another vehicle from a right turn lane. The officer initiated a traffic stop and learned the driver, Kierra J. Freeman, 20, of Chicago, had a suspended driver’s license and was wanted on a failure to appear warrant. Freeman was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. She was later taken to DeKalb County Jail.
