FRIDAY
At 10:17 p.m., officers conducting a check of the 10th floor of Grant South B-Tower smelled an odor consistent with the smell of cannabis. Contact with the resident of the suspected room produced cannabis and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and cannabis. He was processed at the NIU Police Department and then transported to the DeKalb County Correctional Facility. This case is closed by arrest.
SATURDAY
An officer conducting a mobile patrol of 500 N. Annie Glidden noticed someone stumbling on a sidewalk. Contact with the individual revealed the odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Further investigation produced cannabis and drug paraphernalia. Dylan Bane, 20, of DeKalb, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor. Bane was processed at the NIU Police Department and then released after posting bail. This case is closed by arrest.
An officer conducting a foot patrol near the Grant Tower South Service Drive noticed a man yelling for Access Control personnel to open the door for him because he didn’t have his NIU OneCard. When the door was opened, the individual reached in his pockets to retrieve identification and dropped a small plastic bag of cannabis from his pocket. The officer observed him trying to cover the bag with his feet. He was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis.
A 1:15 a.m., an officer on patrol of the service drive at Douglas Hall observed a male stumbling through the service drive. Contact with the person revealed the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his person. The under aged person was referred to the Office of Community Standard and Student Conduct for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
At 1:23 a.m., an officer responded to the eighth floor lobby of Grant North C Tower for a well-being of an individual. Upon arrival, the subject was unconscious and unresponsive and had an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her breath. After receiving initial medical attention, she was transported to Kishwaukee Hospital for further observation. She was also referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
At 3:55 a.m., an officer observed a male hanging out and yelling out of the window of a moving vehicle. A traffic stop on that vehicle revealed that one of the occupants had an active warrant of out DeKalb County. Furthermore, that same individual was banned from all NIU Property. Robert E. Price, 22, of Bellwood, was arrested for the warrant and also charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and criminal trespass to state supported property. He was transported to the DeKalb County Correctional Facility.
At 10:38 a.m., an officer responded to the third level of the Parking Deck for a report of a damaged vehicle. Upon arrival, he spoke with a complainant who noticed a vehicle with a broken window. The officer took pictures of the damaged vehicle. After speaking with the complainant, and later with the
owner of the vehicle, no leads emerged. Due to no leads and no suspects, this case is closed pending further leads.
At 11:10 p.m., an officer traveling westbound on Lucinda Avenue heard loud music emitting from a vehicle in the Lincoln service drive. Upon speaking with the driver of that vehicle, the officer smelled the odor of burnt cannabis emitting from the vehicle and observed an object consisted with being a drug paraphernalia. The driver also had a valid active warrant. He was arrested on that warrant and also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. He also received a state citation for operating uninsured vehicle and a referral to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was processed at the NIU Police Department and released after posting bond.
