NOV. 2
At 8:22 p.m., an officer took a report of a residential burglary. A student at Neptune West reported that a laptop was stolen from his room. Due to no leads, no suspects and no further information provided, this case is closed.
APRIL 5
At 9:44 p.m., a residential burglary was reported in Grant South. This case is administratively closed.
SUNDAY
At 2:52 a.m., an officer on patrol of Lot W observed five people in a vehicle. Contact with the occupants produced cannabis and alcohol. Aman J. Wilkes, 19, and Brendon Rahman, 18, both of Chicago, were charged for illegal possession of alcohol by a minor and possession of cannabis 30 grams and under. This case is closed by arrest.
At 10:58 a.m., officers patrolling Lot 15E observed two males beside a white Ford Taurus acting suspiciously. One of them appeared to take something from his hand and then attempted to move quickly away from the approaching officers. Contact with the individuals produced cannabis. They were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis 30 grams and under.
At 3:46 p.m., an officer responded to Lincoln Hall D Wing for a theft report. Upon arrival, a woman said her laptop had been stolen. The laptop was in her room when she left, but was gone when she returned to her room. This case is pending investigation.
At 8:10 p.m., a person came to the NIU Police Department to report that while playing basketball at Anderson Hall, his car keys were lost or stolen. He later found that his car was stolen from the parking lot outside Anderson Hall. This case is closed by juvenile arrest.
At 11:05 p.m., an officer responded to Douglas Hall B Wing regarding the theft of a NIU room key and a wallet. This case is pending investigation.
At 11:26 p.m., officers responded to the ninth floor of Stevenson Tower South for a report of an obnoxious odor consistent with cannabis. Upon arrival, they spoke with the resident of the suspected room. That resident admitted to smoking cannabis and gave the officers his drug paraphernalia. He was then referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of drug paraphernalia.
