Campus crime blotter 8/22/11

Tuesday
At 12:33 p.m., an officer took a report of criminal damage to property. A person reported damage to and theft from a motor vehicle. Someone broke one of the car windows and stole items from the car. This is alleged to have occurred earlier that day between 9:00 a.m. and 11:59 a.m. This case is pending investigation.
At 6:53 p.m., an officer responded to the Lincoln Service Drive for a call of suspicious circumstances. Upon arrival, he interacted with the suspected person. That interaction produced suspect cannabis on that person. The substance was confiscated and tested positive for cannabis. The person was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for possession of cannabis.
At 11:46 p.m., officers responded to Northern View Apartments Building 3 for a report of trespass. They were advised that four women refused to leave an apartment. Investigation revealed that report was unfounded. Further investigation revealed that other criminal acts allegedly occurred. This case is pending investigation.
At 2:33 a.m., an officer conducting a mobile patrol of 745 Echo Park observed two individuals holding cans of beer in their hands. Both were under the legal drinking age of 21 years. Both were referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct for unlawful possession of alcohol by a minor.
At 11:57 a.m., an officer took a report of criminal damage to property. A person reported damage to a motor vehicle. The damage is alleged to have occurred between 8:00 a.m. on Aug. 12 and 11:57 a.m. on Aug. 16. This case is pending investigation.
Wednesday
At approximately 2:50 a.m., an officer conducted a mobile patrol of the 700 block of Eco Park. While on patrol, he observed two males near a bicycle rack behind a Building 730. Upon seeing him, they fled but were stopped very soon afterwards. One admitted to stealing a bicycle from that rack. The bicycle was recovered. That individual was arrested, transported to the NIU Police Department, processed, and released on an I-Bond. This case is closed by arrest.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., an officer responded to Parking Lot 12 regarding a burglary to motor vehicle. Upon arrival, he met with the complainant who told him that earlier that day between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., someone shattered his car window and stole his Garmin GPS and iPod Shuffle. This case is pending investigation.
