The following was taken directly from area polic and fire department records, or from DeKalb County court records. Anyone mentioned is presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
At 8:42 p.m. Thursday, DeKalb Police checked the registration on a vehicle in the 100 block of Annie Glidden Road and found the vehicle’s license plates were suspended for non-insurance. Police also found the vehicle’s registered owner, Jason M. Heinz, 24, of DeKalb, had a suspended driver’s license. Heinz was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle with suspended license plates and driving with a suspended license. He was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
At 11:59 p.m. Thursday, DeKalb Police responded to a request for an additional unit to aid in a traffic stop in the 400 block of West Lincoln Highway. The driver of the vehicle, David A Billings, 28, of DeKalb, was suspected to be driving under the influence of alcohol. Upon arrival, police used a portable breath test, which displayed a blood alcohol content of .291. Billings was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
At 2:56 a.m. Friday, DeKalb Police responded to a call in the 700 block of Fotis Drive concerning disorderly subjects in a parking lot. Police observed the subjects being loud and dancing near cars. Candace C. Collins, 18, of Rochelle, was found to have an active warrant from Ogle County. Collins was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
At 8:27 a.m. Sunday, DeKalb Police observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the 400 block of West Lincoln Highway. Police performed a traffic stop and found the driver, Lance Wyman, 29, of Villa Park was driving with a suspended driver’s license. Wyman was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
At 1:35 p.m. Sunday, DeKalb Police observed a vehicle make an illegal left turn in the 100 block of McGirr Street. Police performed a traffic stop and found the driver, Steven M. Kohley, 58, of DeKalb to be driving with a revoked driver’s license. Kohley was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
At 11:36 p.m. Sunday, DeKalb Police observed a vehicle in the 100 block of South Tenth Street with no rear registration light. Police performed a traffic stop and learned the driver, Antonio Rugero-Hernandez, 23, of DeKalb, did not have a valid driver’s license. Rugero-Hernandez was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
At 12:35 p.m. Monday, DeKalb Police were investigating a case in the 800 block of Fotis Drive. Officers spoke to David Turner, 23, of Gurnee, about damage resulting from a thunder storm. Turner was found to have an active warrant for his arrest. Turner was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station. He was later transported to DeKalb County Jail.
At 2:19 p.m. Tuesday, DeKalb Police observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the 400 block of East Fairview Road. Police performed a traffic stop and found the driver, Henry T. Martin, 22, of DeKalb, to be driving with a suspended driver’s license. Martin was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
At 4:29 p.m. Wednesday, DeKalb Police observed a vehicle in the 500 block of West Taylor Street without registration. The driver, Brett Burgess, 36, of DeKalb, told the officer that the vehicle was a loaner from Brian Bemis in Sycamore and that the dealer plate may have fallen off. Burgess also told the officer that his driver’s license was suspended. He was arrested and taken to the DeKalb Police Station and later released on bond.
