Felony charges dropped against Wolfe
June 27, 2011
Charges against former NIU and Chicago Bears running back Garrett Wolfe, stemming from an incident at Cameo nightclub in Miami, have been dropped after his arraignment on June 21.
Wolfe faced felony charges for refusing to pay a $1,600 bar tab and was charged with disorderly conduct, retail theft, assault of a police officer and resisting an officer with violence during the May 22 incident.
According to ESPN.com, Wolfe still faces a level-one misdemeanor of resisting an officer with violence.
Wolfe was selected in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Bears and will be an unrestricted free agent once the lockout lifts, making him free to sign with any team.
The former Huskie star became just the 12th player in NCAA Division 1-A history to rush for over 5,000 yards, setting a school record with 5,164 yards.
Wolfe also holds NIU records for most career rushing touchdowns (52) and total touchdowns (57), among others.
As a Bear Wolfe saw limited playing time at running back, totaling just 282 yards and one touchdown in his career.
