The Rant: James not the next Jordan

By Brian Belford

The Dallas Mavericks have been named 2011 NBA champions after defeating the Miami Heat four games to two.

Before this series, LeBron James of the Miami Heat was arguably the best player in the NBA.

Should a player who loses confidence in his shot and never shows up in the fourth quarter of an NBA series be considered the best player?

Should a player who has no intermediate game, who plays either at the rim or behind the 3-point line be considered the best player?

Should a player who has compared his game to his idol, Michael Jordan, throughout his entire career, then goes out and behaves like the complete opposite be considered the best player?

In all fairness, we should never compare anyone to Jordan. Especially someone who fits all of the above descriptions. Oh wait, that someone is James.
