Beth Fowler Dance Company returns to Egyptian Theatre

The Beth Fowler Dance Company and School of Dance performed “West Side Story, Annie & More” June 10 through June 12 at the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St.

“The performance will open with the company dancers dancing the beautiful Spanish ballet Paquita. Secondly, a condensed version of Annie will be presented by younger students of the dance school,” said Beth Fowler prior to the performance. “The third section of the show is a variety of high energy dance pieces in modern, tap, lyrical, jazz and hip-hop that will entertain audiences of all ages. The show-closer is a 40-minute production of West Side Story.”

The Beth Fowler Dance Company and School have locations in Genoa and St. Charles. It is the largest establishment of its type in the county. Almost 400 dancers performed on these nights. Many of these performers are locals.

“The cast consists of almost 50 boys that were trained especially for this production,” said Fowler.

The group has been performing at the Egyptian Theatre since 1991. The Nutcracker is their traditional winter performance, and there is a different show every June. The company typically performs two or three times annually.

“They always put on a great show,” said Alex Nerad, executive director at the Egyptian Theatre.
