Structure fire causes $1 million in damages

DeKALB | A structure fire in the 800 block of East Locust Street has caused $1 million in damages.
A press release from the DeKalb Fire Department said, firefighters responded to Conex Cable, 816 E. Locust St. at 6 a.m. on April 29. Firefighters found heavy smoke and a fire located in a wire drawing machine in the southeast part of the building. The fire took over an hour for firefighters to get under control.
According to the release, there were no injuries caused by the fire, the cause of which is undetermined.
DeKalb Fire Chief Bruce Harrison said the cause of the fire will remain undetermined due to the complexity of the machinery involved.
