The Rant: So-so Joe-Joe

By Andrew Singer

Joe Morgan, Joe Morgan, Joe Morgan.

That is all anybody heard when Joe Morgan was in the broadcast booth for a “Sunday Night Baseball” game. The self-indulgent Morgan would usually sneak in at least 2-3 stories about himself in each and every broadcast he was involved with. Thankfully, I won’t have to mute my TV on Sunday night anymore. Both play-by-play man Jon Miller and Morgan were not brought back this season by ESPN.

Dan Shulman will call the action instead and will be joined in the booth by Orel Hershiser and Bobby Valentine. The trio called their first Sunday night game last night, when the San Francisco Giants wrapped up their series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The only problem was that the game was pushed to ESPN2, while the Women’s Final Four took the ESPN time slot. That on the other hand, is an entirely different reason for me to get angry.
