Interfraternity Council will host its annual men’s tugs tournament this week.

The tournament will feature 12 fraternities in a tug-of-war style battle.

The tournament will kick off at 2 p.m. Monday on the east tailgate side of Huskie Stadium.

Last year, Phi Sigma Kappa defeated PKP to claim the championship.

Regular tournament rounds will run Monday through Thursday with a break on Friday. Finals will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday.

“Our goal is to bring a lot of people and increase Greek awareness,” said IFC President Richie Dalitto. “We’re trying to show what going Greek is about; it’s about brotherhood.”

Admission to Monday through Thursday matches will cost $5 per day and Saturday will cost $10. Week passes are available for $15 in the Holmes Student Center Box Office.

“It’s a great way to save money if you’re planning on going more than one day,” said Jeremy Sanchez, IFC vice president of community events.

Students are encouraged to join the NIU IFC Tugs 2011 event on Facebook to stay up-to-date with the week-long event.
