NIU head men’s basketball coach Mark Montgomery announced on Tuesday evening that Dayton assistant coach Jon Borovich will be on his staff of coaches for the 2011-2012 season.

Borovich spent the last four seasons with Dayton, helping lead the Flyers to post-season play each year. In 2007-2008, Dayton was ranked as high as no. 14 in the Associated Press poll. The following season, the Flyers advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and finished with a 27-8 record.

The Michigan native spent 2001-2003 as a graduate assistant at Michigan State before working at Dayton for the first time from 2003-2005 as the Director of Basketball Operations. Borovich then spent two seasons at Oakland University before coming back to Dayton in 2007.

Borovich comes to NIU with knowledge of the Mid-American Conference after playing for Central Michigan from 1997-2001.
