DeKALB | NIU’s IFC Tugs tournament started off the week with big numbers Monday.

IFC officers said between 500 and 600 people were in attendance for the first day of the event, more than have attended on the first day in past years.

“Attendance was the best outcome of all first day matches,” said Jeremy Sanchez, IFC Vice President of Community Events. “I’m excited to see how the rest of the week will turn out.”

A limited amount of week passes are still available in the Holmes Student Center box office for $15, Sanchez said.

The Tugs tournament is being held on the east side of Huskie Stadium and will continue at 3 p.m. today with the match between Delta Upsilon and Pi Kappa Alpha.

Students are still encouraged to join the NIU IFC Tugs 2011 event on Facebook to stay up-to-date on the week-long event.
