DeKalb County Lamb and Wool Producers will host annual lamb buffet
March 30, 2011
Lamb is the main menu item for an upcoming evening buffet.
The DeKalb County Lamb & Wool Producers will host its annual lamb buffet on April 9.
“The buffet will include carved leg of lamb, vegetables, potatoes, salad, dinner rolls, dessert and choice of beverage,” according to the press release. It will be catered by 5-B’s Catering in Waterman.
The DeKalb County Lamb & Wool Producers welcomes local residents to attend.
“We are just trying to get people more used to eating lamb,” said Allen Dietz, president of the DeKalb County Lamb & Wool Producers. “For many, it is not in a normal diet, so we are trying to promote the use of lamb.”
The buffet is open to everyone.
“We typically get 50-75 people,” said Mariam Wassmann, DeKalb County Farm Bureau director of information. “We are still taking reservations.”
The DeKalb County Lamb & Wool Producers is made up of lamb production farmers from the DeKalb County area.
“We have 30-35 members from the area,” Dietz said. “The organization is about 40-50 years old.”
The event will be held at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau, 1350 W. Prairie Drive in Sycamore.
Tickets may be bought at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau until Monday. Tickets cannot be purchased at the door.
Tickets cost $14 for adults and $7 for children ages 5 to 12. Children under 4 are free.
