Silas garners one vote for Player of the Year
March 7, 2011
Xavier Silas just can’t win these days.
After going down with an ankle injury against Central Michigan on Feb. 23, Silas has not seen the floor for the Huskies.
With Silas being held out of NIU’s MAC Tournament-opening game against Bowling Green, the nation’s eighth-leading scorer was hit with another blow as the MAC announced its Player of the Year on Monday.
Silas received only one vote.
The winner, Kent State senior Justin Greene, received seven votes after averaging 15.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game for the 21-10 Golden Flashes.
Silas has averaged 22.3 points per game this season, easily leading the conference.
