The Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) is urging students to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) early this year.

According to a press release issued Feb. 9, ISAC is seeking 800,000 completed applications in 2011, which would be a 7 percent increase over last year.

FAFSA completion is a focus of ISAC in February, which it has dubbed Financial Aid Awareness Month. Representatives of ISAC will participate in more than 170 financial aid events throughout the state this month.
