The 2010 “Friend of Education” award was presented to Kurt Klein, presiding circuit judge for DeKalb County, according to DeKalb County press release.
The award is given annually by Area II Regional Superintendents of Schools, which are composed of superintendents in nearby counties.
Klein’s dedication and perseverance to the children and students made him the top pick for this award, according to the release.
Klein was chosen as the recipient of this award due to his extensive involvement in the Juvenile Court and Truancy System, the release stated.
“Tatia Beckwith, assistant superintendent of DeKalb County, and myself nominated Judge Klein because we are grateful for his efforts in working with our students and truancy staff,” said Gil Morrison, regional superintendent of Schools of DeKalb County, in the release.
