DeKalb | ComEd requested through an automated phone message Tuesday afternoon that customers record and submit their own meter readings. The message said employees may be unable to take meter readings due to “the extreme weather conditions.”

The message, said customers could avoid an estimated bill by submitting their meter reading online through comed.com before today at 5 p.m.

According to the ComEd website, the dials on the meter should be read from left to right and if the dial is in between two numbers, the smaller should be recorded. A username and password need to be created on the ComEd website to submit the reading online.
