Campus crime blotter for 1/24/11

Wednesday
- At 5:51 a.m., officers were dispatched to Northern View Apartments for a domestic battery that had just occurred. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who reported being pushed up against a door and held there by an ex-boyfriend. The offender also took the victim’s cell phone before fleeing the scene. Follow-up will be conducted with the State’s Attorney Office to seek a warrant for the offender.
- At 11:26 p.m., officers responded to Douglas Hall in regards to a report of an obnoxious odor of cannabis. A subject was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The subject was referred to the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct.
Thursday
- At 10:42 p.m., an officer conducting a building check of Neptune North detected the odor of cannabis from a particular room. After allowed voluntary entry, the officer noticed drug paraphernalia in plain view. William Mariani, 18, of Sycamore, was arrested for possession of drug equipment and possession of cannabis 30 grams and under.
Saturday
- At 1 p.m., a complainant reported someone had made a purchase on her debit card without her consent. This case is open and pending further investigation.
- At 9:11 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to signal a turn. Initially, the driver provided the officer with a false name. An assisting officer recognized the driver as a subject banned from campus. Robert Price, 21, of Bellwood, was placed under arrest and charged with criminal trespass to state supported property and obstructing identification. It was also determined that Price had two active warrants for his arrest. He was transported to the NIU Police Department, where he was booked. He was later transported to the DeKalb County Jail.
