Commentary: football armageddon is upon us in Bears vs. Packers game

We all know the overplayed elements between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers.
Sky-rocketing cholesterol.
George Halas and Vince Lombardi.
The list goes on and on, but I’ll save you from my being “meat-headed.”
Put aside the food that will clog your arteries and ghosts from the past; this year’s conference championship between these two teams will up the ante in the NFL’s longest running rivalry.
Forget about regular season bragging rights.
Forget about players that have played for both teams.
Football Armageddon is upon us: either the Bears or Packers will be representing the NFC in this year’s Super Bowl.
Regular season games are always fond to look back on, but playoffs, oh the playoffs; those are the memories that are remembered forever.
The winner of this playoff matchup will have bragging rights for years to come, while whoever comes up empty will be continuously reminded.
Once the Bears were victorious over the Seahawks on Sunday, Fox executives most likely started asking each other if they had bananas in their pockets or if they were just happy to see each other.
The NFL spotlight is now shining on Soldier Field.
Anticipation for arguably one of the NFL’s most hyped games to ever be played will continue to grow this week.
It’s not a stretch to say that this is one of the biggest games in American sports history.
These are the type of matchups sports fans dream of, intoxicated fools shoot the breeze about or play one another on their favorite video game console.
However, this isn’t a pipe-dream anymore.
To answer the young boy that asked after his dentist visit, “is this real life?” Yes ladies and gentlemen, this is real life.
This is forever.
So do I need to even ask, are you ready for some football?
